Archangels Michael and Zadkiel

Updated: Sep 29, 2021

September signals a new year in many cultures and religions, such as: Judaism (The New Year (Rosh Hashanah)), Islam (The New Year (Hijri) on September 22nd) and Michaelmas (“Michael’s Mass”) on September 29.

Each month also brings with it its own Archangels, so for September, the Archangels are Michael and Zadkiel. Archangel Michael or Mikael, is the greatest named Angel, his name meaning “One who is like God” and that as “Arch” Angel, “Chief” or “Head” of the Angels, he led them as mentioned in the Christian Bible. In fact, he is the only Angel mentioned by name in all three of the major sacred texts of the world’s religions that emphasize Angels: the Torah (Judaism), the Bible (Christianity), and the Qur'an (Islam). However, his energy can be felt by anyone, regardless of their religion or beliefs. His “superpowers” include super strength, speed, invulnerability, telepathy and the power to speak to animals. Archangel Michael’s colors are cobalt blue, indigo or royal purple.

Michaelmas, also known as the Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, or Feast of the Archangels, is a Christian festival celebrated in the Western churches on September 29. The name “Michaelmas” is shortened from “Michael’s Mass.” In the Roman Catholic church, only Michael, Gabriel and Raphael are included. In some denominations, such as the Anglican and Episcopal churches, Archangel Uriel is added in celebration to the feast of these Archangels. As this day falls near the equinox, it signifies the beginning of autumn and shorter days in the northern hemisphere.

Archangel Zadkiel’s name translates from the Hebrew “Zafkiel, Tzaphkiel, Zaphchial, Zelel” and other pronunciations), meaning, "Righteousness of God", “God’s Knowledge” or from the Coptic: “Sedakiel,” meaning "Grace of God".

Zadkiel is the archangel of freedom, benevolence and mercy, simply known as the “Angel of Mercy.” Zadkiel watches over people when they need to make important decisions and clarify them in words for others. Archangel Zadkiel’s color is violet and he/she is the keeper of the Violet Flame. (click here to read more about Zadkiel and the Violet Flame.)

Message from Archangels Michael and Zadkiel:

“We are here, Dear Ones, to take you to our bosoms and protect you, to show you love and strength that you may not have had before. Believe in yourselves. Believe you are strong and yet vulnerable. Believe that you are loved and yet looking to be loved. Believe that you know what to say, and are finding the right words to express yourselves. With that and much more, we can easily help you. All you need to do is ask. Many blessings.”
